Mayor Kevin Smith's trip to China
Mayor Kevin Smith has generously given us pictures from his trip to China.

EDITORIAL by Judith DeLury

His trip was part of an ongoing effort of economic development  within the Anderson community.  Economic development takes the effort of all community leaders and citizens irregardless of their political point of view, ethnic background(s), religion (or disbelief of), and unique life experiences.   We are all a part of Anderson's communities.  New roads, new buildings, new trails are all cosmetic.  We, you and I, are the heart of the communities that call Anderson home.  To paraphrase and old saying, A community that works together stays together...or so it should be.   Our differences shouldn't hold us back, these differences should be avenues of learning that expand our knowledge and life experiences.  Don't like the way things are, get involved and make a difference...it is much more rewarding than complaining.  Growing up I was taught if something was so bad it must be complained about it was time to learn how to make a change.  As a member of the White River Watchers, I have chosen to do what I can to improve the environment in Madison County.  My degree in Environmental Planning has taught me there are always trade-offs...AKA compromises.  Change will happen.  We may not be able to stop change, but we can become involved and help determine the direction that change will take making the transitions to a better future for Anderson as smooth as possible.   Enough of the soap box, here are two more pictures...thanks for listening.  Judy

P.S., Thanks Mayor Kevin Smith for the pictures.
