MINUTES: SEPTEMBER 20, 2004 White River Watchers would like to extend a grateful welcome to Anderson City Attorney, David Happe Minutes: The minutes for the meeting of August 16, 2004 were approved as written. Treasurer’s Report: Kim gave the ending balance as of Aug 31, 2004. The balance was $8,452.53. Frankton & Lapel Parades: Alan Kilburn pulled a float made by the boy scouts in the Frankton Parade. The float was made with tires pulled from the White River. The float was awarded second place. John Johnson pulled the float for the Lapel Parade where the float was awarded first place. September Clean-up: There were over 400 tires pulled from the river!!!! There was some concern about the tires being taken to the Madison County garage for temporary storage. Arrangements will be made for tires from future clean-ups to be taken directly to the Madison County Recycling Center. Sheryl made a motion to purchase a gift certificate of $20 from Applebee’s to be given to Nick Hart for his assistance with the clean-up. The motion was made, seconded and carried. Dick Fetty asked for $30 reimbursement due to expenses incurred while using his tractor for the benefit of the clean-up. A motion was made, seconded and carried. A motion was made, seconded and carried to reimburse Harvey Reidel for reimbursement for film processing in the amount of $88.52 There were 102 names on the sign-up sheets. WRAC: Sheryl handed out a copy of the $100,000 proposal for the stabilization of the river bank along the Grandview Golf Course. The City of Anderson will provide $6,000 in funds and in-kind matching funds (for labor and equipment). There will be a meeting in the Mayor’s Office on Wed. Sept 21, 2004. MISC: The newly named River Bend Park (the former Price Property) will hast a tree planting on Oct. 23, 2004 at 9AM for Make A Difference Day. Volunteers are needed. We need to determine a location for our Christmas Party! There was much discussion about concerns over the fishing contest held and sponsored by Canoe Adventures. We were shown a video of pictures taken by Harvey Reidel of the river clean-up. A motion was made, seconded and approved to adjourn. |
