MINUTES OCTOBER 20, 2003
Minutes: Minutes were accepted as written.
Treasurer’s Report: The current amount in the
treasury is $1291.55. The report was accepted as read.
Old Business:
- Moss Island Report: The project has been
approved. Bids must be taken on the project. Carl Woodrich,
Doug Newsbaum and Bret Canaday are working out the details.
There is no estimate as to when the project will be done.
- School Report: Beth Clark and the
Anderson Community Schools System are very supportive of the
project Wet/Wild presentations. It will be used for the K thru
5 enrichment team curriculum. There will be a total of 36
lessons used. During the school year. There has been approval
for release time for subs so the teachers can attend workshops.
The coordinators will be Sheryl Meyers from WRW, Chad Pigg from
the city of Anderson Water Treatment Facility, and Beth Clark
from the Anderson School Corporation.
- We welcomed two new people to our
meeting. Tracey Hall has become a member. Ray Freer attended
his first meeting.
- We discussed the number of people that
should be allowed in a canoe. It was a judgment call. All must
have a PFD. The canoe country went by weight rather than number
of people. We will have to research the possibilities for next
year.
- We should get data for illness due to
e-coli. We should be able to get the data from the state health
department. Yorktown cancelled its river clean-up due to an
e-coli scare.
New Business:
- Mounds Park Pavilion has been rented for
the Christmas Party. We need a list of suggestions for
activities for the Christmas Party.
- A motion was made, seconded and passed to
amend the by-laws to allow for the election to be held in
November rather than at the December meeting which is the
Christmas Party. We must give 5 days written notice to those
board members not present. E-mail is acceptable for sending the
notice. Helen Ween, the Kilburns, Jim Campbell, Sue Skinner and
Bret Canaday must all be notified. We will nominate and elect
officers for 2004 at the November 18, 2003 meeting.
- Treasurer’s Audit: Helen Ween will be
free after this month to assist with the audit.
- Volunteer Award: Jim Campbell and Dick
Fetty were appointed to the awards committee. Sheryl nominated
the WRW for the Governor’s Award for Excellence in
Volunteerism. We were entered in the environmental category.
The organization will receive the award on October 23, 2003.
- Governor’s Conference: the conference
will be held on October 30, 2003 at Ft. Ben. A motion was made.
Seconded and passed to pay for four members to go. Three
volunteered to go. They were Ralph Parker, Tom Baldauf and Judy
DeLury. The conference cost $25/ person.
- Newsletter: Thanks to all who helped with
the newsletter. It is a first class news letter.
- We will need to get a new post office box
after January since the post office boxes at the Pay Less will
no longer be available. Kim will look into renting one at the
Anderson Post Office.
