 MINUTES AUGUST 16, 2004

MINUTES:  The minutes for the meeting o July 19, 2004 were approved as written.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  There is a balance of $9,514.93 in the treasury.  Ram Graphics needs to be paid.

SEPTEMBER CLEAN-UP:

·        Becky Shroyer on behalf of the United Way of Madison County and IBEW Local 281 invited the members to their U.A.W.C.A.P. breakfast on Sept. 11, 2004.  She also told the board that those wishing to volunteer for the Sept. 11, 2004 Day of Caring would be offered the opportunity to participate in the White River Clean Up.

·        After much discussion it was decided to begin at Canoe Country in Daleville and continue to Timberline with drop off points at CR 500E, Walbrige and Timberline.  Volunteers could choose how far they wished to canoe and clean.

·        Dumpsters would be needed at CR 500E, Walbrige and Timberline

·        Details for equipment needs, food, transportation and publicity were discussed and agreed on.

·        Canoe Country will provide the canoes and transportation

·        We will be able to feed volunteers at the Canoe Country park and picnic area.

·        The East Central Solid Waste District will take the tires found in the river

There will be a meeting on Aug 31, 2004 to discuss the possibility of building a river access point in Perkinsville.

The Price Property will be renamed.  It will be called the River Bend Park.  Oct. 23 or Nov. 6 are the tentative possible dates for an official planting day.

The Sierra Club would like to clean up the White River in Muncie and then consider a bank stabilization project.

It was suggested that we consider giving spare tire awards.

A motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn.
