MINUTES AUG 18, 2003

 Minutes:  A motion was made, seconded and carried to accept the minutes for June 16, 2003.  Kim was not present to present the minutes for July.

 Treasurers Report:  Kim was not present.  The treasurer’s report was postponed until the next meeting.

 Old Business:

      Moss Island:  The proposal was rewritten for bidding. 

      School Report:  The committee will get together on Sept. 15^th.  Could not make presentation(s) at the Family Connection because of schedule conflicts.  Jim Campbell gave Chad Pigg information on project wet.  Will get Healthy Kids, Healthy Water brochures to insert in the information packets that are given out at presentations.  Chad needs our help in schools with water quality presentation.  We will give our presentation first followed by Chad. 

      Clean-up:  Aug. 16^th clean-up will be at Edgewater.  May need an alternate site for tires sinc CR3 burnt down and has been sited for several EPA violations.

 New business:

      Sept. 13^th Clean-up:

o       Food - There is chili left over that has been frozen and is still good.

o       Canoes – Dick Fetty and Brad Childs will secure canoes for the clean-up.

o       Publicity – Sheryl Meyers will contact the Herald Bulletin.

o       Dumpsters – Will be provided by Republic.

 Presentation:  Bret Robinson from the USGS gave a presentation on Understanding the Science of Floods.  He explained the meaning and relevance of the 100 year flood and explained the reoccurrence interval.
