MINUTES

July 19, 2010

It was determined we had a quorum with 6 board members present.

Minutes:  The minutes for April 19, 2010, May 17, 2010 and the special meeting were approved.

Treasurer's Report:  There was 7133.31 in the checking account before the canoes were paid for.  We received $350 in fees and donations.  The Wal-Mart paper work is turned in.  There was discussion about the need to search for grants.  Brian Griffin suggested we start by targeting one age group and then expand as needed.  The one age group least targeted  are the 3d and 4th graders. A motion was made and seconded to reimburse Judy for a book on JAVA Script to help with the web-site. 

Riverfest:  It was pointed out that this is the 4th Riverfest, not the 3d.  Comments included:

·         We did not have enough canoes.  We used 30 canoes total.

·         We did get contact information.

·         There needs to be more commitment to assigned positions

·         We forgot about giving rides back from the takeout point.

·         Maybe we should appoint a position for a Riverfest coordinator

·         Need XXX large shirts and kids shirts for the next clean-up

Board Members:  John Johnson made a motion to elect Brian Griffin to the board, Judy seconded, the motion carried.  Kim will send a polite letter to those board members that no longer attend meetings to see if they are still interested in being involved with the WRW.

September 11, 2010 Clean-up:

·         We will put in at River Bend and take out at John Johnson's.

·         John needs help getting the property ready.

·         A motion was made, seconded and passed to pay for some of the cost of getting John's property ready, especially the ramp

·         There will only be 60 canoes for the September 11th clean-up due to the conflict with the Muncie clean-up.

·         It is too late to change the date this year

·         It was suggested to have a bank clean-up elsewhere.

·         Volunteers will be needed to assist launching the canoes as well as pulling the canoes out and emptying them.

·         Wal-Mart will do the food and deliver food to those who are not located where the food is.

·         Another planning meeting was scheduled for Aug 1st at John Johnson's at 3:30ish.  For those who want to float to his property, meet at River Bend at 1PM

Special Meeting

August 1, 2010

Clean-up Details:

·         Wal-Mart will provide the food and servers

·         There will be one sign-in sheet with additional space for employee last four of the SS# and their store #.

·         Kim will do the registering.

·         Discussed the location for the port-o-potties and hand wash station

·         We will have the T-shirts in Wal-Mart reusable bags with the names of the volunteers on the bags.  The volunteers will indicate the size of their T-shirt when they register

·         Sheryl discussed renting a bus or van for transportation.  Need to see if Robbie will have any busses available for us.

·          Wal-Mart expects about 45 people and Anderson University expected about 40 people.

·         There was an editorial in the Anderson Herald Bulletin about the Riverfest clean-up.

·         July 27, 2010

·         Kim suggested we pay for some descent signs.  Kevin made a motion to buy signs, John seconded and the motion passed.  Sheryl will check on prices.

·         Sheryl would like the cell phone #'s of the board members by the next meeting

·         We will have 60 canoes from Canoe Country and about 20 more from other sources.

·          Judy has a case of water to bring.

·         Sheryl and Judy will be in charge of parking and perhaps Brian Griffin.

·         Brad and Alan will be at River Bend to help launch. 

·         Brian Rhodes will check to see if he can borrow a trailer for tires.
