MINUTES

January 14, 2010

 

Minutes:  The minutes for the meeting of November  16, 2009 were approved

Treasurer's Report:  Kim was not present for the meeting.  The treasurer's report was postponed.

Calendar:  Sheryl had a tentative calendar for discussion and planning of future events. 

*      River Fest:  July 17, 2010

*      Fall Clean-up: September 11, 2010  We will rent all the canoed from Canoe Country.  The contact person in Muncie is Lane Cameron.  We need to keep in contact with Brian Griffith from Wal Mart.  We should contact Canoe Country before April to discuss tentative dates.

*      Christmas Party:  December 13, 2010

*      We discussed having a program with Angie, the naturalist from Mounds State Park along with various other possibilities for guest speakers.  Judy will attempt to contact Scott Hamm.

Other Topics for Discussion:  Other topics discussed were:

*      John Johnson made a motion to reimburse the Lapel Football team for their clean-up.

*      Using individuals who had to do community service to help clean-up the parks.

*      Sheryl suggested Crist give a report on the other water quality committee meetings he attends throughout the month. Crist reported Lilly Creek - Little Duck watershed project was having difficulty spending the implementation grant monies.  There was going to be a public meeting at the 4-H grounds for the Lilly Creek/ Little Duck project.  Geist Watershed Steering Committee was having a meeting t the Pendleton Library. Geist Reservoir is a high priority due to the recent increase in blue-green algae blooms.  We could link to the UWRWA web-site. Crist also informed the group there were no LARE grants in Madison, Grant or Delaware counties.

*      Judy should keep track of the hours spent working on the web-site. 

*       Sheryl will check to see if there will be an Arbor Day celebration in Anderson this year.

*      The Herald Bulletin article on the anniversary of the fish kill was passed around.

*      Sheryl suggested inviting the Police Chief, Mayor Occoman and others on a river trip.  Crist suggested reducing the cost of membership for the police, Fire, etc.

*      Kim needs help on the newsletter as always.

*      Keith Morris suggested looking into the invasive species knot weed.

*      Sheryl suggested having a program of some sort every three months.

A motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn
