March 16, 2009

Minutes:  The reading of the minutes was postponed until the April 20, 2009 meeting.

Treasurer's Report:  There is $13,172.16 in the checking account.  We received a $1,000.00 donation from the City of Anderson.  The White River Insurance Agency donated $100.00 as well.

Updates:

      Jim Habereck from the City of Anderson did not show up.  We will try to reschedule.  He has been a no-show before.  Bonnie Ellefritz, IDEM watershed specialist,  will be the guest speaker at the April 20, 2009 meeting.

      The Upper White River Watershed Alliance will be meeting at Viola Headquarters from 2-4 on March 19, 2009.

      Earth Day:  We discussed what to pass out.  We will need about 1000 new brochures.  Johnson moved to have them printed.  Dick Fetty seconded, the motion carried. Wal-Mart could afford to donate 250 bags that we could print out logo on.  Wal-Mart will provide the gazebos for an out-door booth. 

      Wal-Mart has decided to adopt the portion of the White River from SR32 to Mounds State Park.  We will have a booth at Wal-Mart on April 24th from 5PM - 8PM. 

      Crist updated the 319 grant for the SWCD. 

      There will be a Geist/Fall Creek Watershed meeting on Tue April 14, 2009 from 5:30PM - 7:30PM.

    Kim still needs articles for the next newsletter!

    Kevin informed us that his pay-pal payment did not go through.  Judy will look into why.

    River Fest:  We discussed having it on either July 11th or 18th.  Alan made a motion to have it on July 18, 2009.  Motion carried. 

    Total expenditures last year were $2700 which also included t-shirts. 

    Phil is looking for a 17' aluminum canoe.  He would prefer a Gruman or similar.

    Kim informed us of a United Way Grant for emergence preparedness.  There is a need to have a volunteer data base.  There is also money for youth employment through Work Force Development.
