September 17, 2006

Minutes: The minutes for the meeting of August 21, 206 were approved as written.

Treasurer’s report:  There is $26,768.26 in the account.  The treasurer’s report was approved

Old Business:

*            Clean-up:  Everyone told their accounts of what they found including a personal vibrating object which was the source of many jokes.  Sheryl made a list of what items were found.  There is to be an article in the paper on September 18, 2006.  With daylight savings time it may be necessary to start an hour later next year.  There was discussion on the possibility of cleaning further west from 600W to Perkinsville.  Sheryl received 6 phone calls thanking her for our efforts.

*            City wide Clean-up:  There will be a city wide clean-up on October 14, 2006.  The East Central Solid Waste District will pay for disposal/recycling of any tires that are picked up.

*            RR Trestle Removal:  We are waiting on a reply from the Army Corp of Engineers.

*            Yorktown Clean-up:  The Yorktown clean-up will be Saturday, September, 23, 2006.  The organizers would like us there as consultants.  The clean-up starts at 8:30AM at Morrow’s Meadow Park.  There will be a meeting at 6:30 September 18, 2006 at the city office to discuss any last minute details.

*            Newsletter:  Kim still needs article for the newsletter.  She needs them within the next week.

*            Guest Speaker:  We need ideas and suggestions for guest speaker(s) as early as the November meeting.

New business:

*            Educational Projects:  On November 11, 2006 there will be a project learning tree seminar at Tanglewood.  Sheryl will be the facilitator.  Other possibilities for educational projects were discussed.

*            Ten Year Anniversary:  Several possibilities were discussed including a river festival.

*            Signs:  Dick Fetty will check into stickers, decals, magnetic signs, etc. so we as board members can display our information.

*            Christmas Party:  John Johnson will check into renting the Mounds Pavilion for our December 18, 2006 Christmas Celebration meeting.  The Emory Lee building in Alexandria was discussed as an alternative.

*            Nominating Committee:  We will need nominations for officers at our October 16, 2006 meeting. 

A motion was made, seconded and approved to adjourn.
