MINUTES

March 20, 2006

Minutes: The minutes for the meeting of March 20, 2006 were approved as read

Treasurer’s Report: There was $31,273.49 in the account

Old Business:  The trailer has been purchased.  We are awaiting delivery.  It is 7’ x 14’ with a side door, light Champaign in color, and has a tandem axel.  It was purchased for just under $3,500.  The board discussed lettering and hand purchasing dollies. 

New Business: 

*      Education:  Chad Pigg requested ideas for public education including possible job shadowing, tours of the water treatment facility, river awareness day and in-classroom presentations.

*      Earth Day:  Shady Side Park need a face-lift and clean-up. The board discussed the possibilities.  The board approved a motion to rent booth space for $15.  Sat. April 22nd Highland High School Students will have a clean up at Shady Side Park.  The board approved a motion to donate $50 for their efforts.  The board also discussed providing those individuals that walk along the river regularly trash bags so debris could be picked up as needed by those that use available trails and paths. 

*      Mallard Lake:  The board approved a motion to pay the Hoosier Environmental Council (HEC) dues.  Many possibilities were discussed as to what action(s) should be taken to prevent a landfill on the property.  A motion was approved to pursue the feasibility of a class action suit against the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM).  Helen Ween was not present to answer questions concerning the ongoing battle. 

A motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn.
