MINUTES: August 21, 2006
Minutes: The minutes for the meeting of
July were passed with minor typographical errors corrected
Treasurer’s Report: There was
$27,391.63 in the account. The bill for Newton’s who printed the
pencils is still outstanding.
Old Business:
Kim needs articles by Sept 1, 2006 for the news letter
The Yorktown clean-up is Sept 23, 2006. The contact #
is 765—759-0142 or 765-748-7985. There will be a pre-registration.
Sept. 9th Clean-up
We will meet at John Johnson’s place at 8th
and Layton Rd. We will put up signs to follow.
Sheryl will contact Papa John’s and Judy will contact
Dick’s Bodacious Barbeque.
EVERONE WILL SUBMIT INVOICES!
Registration will begin at 8:30 AM. Board members
arrive at 7:30AM to set up.
Board members decided who is to bring the various
equipment needed, i.e. gloves, batteries, tire pullers, etc.
Judy will up-date the web-site and contact Dick’s
bodacious barbeque. We will plan on 75 – 100 volunteers (weather
permitting)
There will be a 30yd dumpster at John’s.
Most volunteers will put in at River Bend Park while
others will go west from John’s to 600
New Business:
There will be a river Rally June 07, 08, and 09, 2007.
(Thur., Fri., and Sat.) This is in the planning stages.
There was discussion about a meeting the Red Tail
Conservancy was having during the events at the Horizon Center.
Sheryl asked for a donation for food to be served at the Red Tail
conservancy office a few blocks away. A motion was made and passed
to reimburse the Red Tail for any food bought.
Crist discussed the Soil and Water Conservation
District’s Tree sale.
Dick Fetty showed golf shirts the Lion’s club was
selling for $16 for 1 shirt or $15 for 2 shirts. It was decided to
look into the cost of polo shirts for the board members.
Crist and Judy gave a report on the prospect of
cleaning up the Delaware Dump which is in the planning stages. The
initial estimate indicates the cost to be about $500,000. It will
be important to network with John Bundy, Andy Lehman, the City of
Anders and others.
The Grandview restoration is progressing. The bank is
planted. Prarie grasses have been planted. It may be necessary to
install a snow fence to protect the new plantings and prevent winter
snow boarders and other less informed individuals from destroying
and/or damaging the work that has been done.
The Anderson Parks department likes the idea of a
summer River School
We discussed possible guest speakers.
