MINUTES

September 15, 2008

The meeting was in progress when the secretary joined the meeting.  Members were discussing the clean-up and telling their individual was stories.  Suggestions were made for next year.

*      Clean-ups could qualify for community service projects

*      September is probably the best month for having a clean-up.

*      We need to keep an ongoing relationship with the Upper White River Watershed Alliance

*      We can benefit from educational outreach and networking. 

 

Minutes:  Minutes for the meeting of August 18, 2008 were approved. 

Treasurer’s Report:  There were bill still out.  The treasurer’s report was taken under advisement with no objections. 

Other News:

*      Lance Busby of White River Inc. pleads guilty and agreed to make restitution for the money stolen.  He will do prison time.

*      We can help Steve Goodman with the storm sewer marking program.

*      Kevin will try to get a speaker lined up for our October meeting.

*      There will be a clean-up at Shadyside Park on September 27th from 10AM – 12Noon.  Will have Highland sports groups to help.

*      Elections will be held at the November meeting.

*      There was initial discussion for our Christmas party.

*      We should have a canoe-in for Alan.

*      Christ has water quality monitoring equipment at the SWCD.  He will write a letter requesting the return of the equipment.  We also need our Enviroscape back.

*      October 12 will be the canoe-in.  We will put in at the Conservation Club or River Bend and float to John’s farm.  John will coordinate the event through e-mail.

*      We appreciate Kim’s OCD organization of the treasury.

*      Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will speak at Ball State in February.

*      A motion was made by John and seconded by Judy to offer a free 1 year membership to two very hard workers at the clean-up.  One was Steve Clark, the other name wasn’t known, but could be found out on the Herald Bulletin website.  The motion passed.

*      Sheryl gave an update on the West trail.

*      Fall Creek is on a high priority list for cleaning up. 

*      There was more discussion on future sponsorship and possible future plans for the WRW.
