ARBOR DAY, APRIL 28,2007

Thanks to all who attended and volunteered.  Below are pictures taken.  If you have more pictures you would like to add feel free to e-mail us.  Selection and addition to this website will be done at the discretion of the White River Watchers.

The festivities began with a speech by Mayor Kevin Smith.  There were many informative displays to visit with plenty of freebies! One very popular one was the "Bird Lady".  Her real name is Diana Shaffer.  She is the president of the Wildlife Resqu Haus, Inc. Located in Yorktown, Indiana.  (Snail mail at 11100 W. State Road 32, Yorktown, IN 47396)  she can be contacted by phone at 765-759-9112 and e-mailed at yorktownbirdlady@aol.com.  The slide show has several pictures of the birds she brought:  they included a blind American Kestrel, A Barred Owl with only one wing and a Screech Owl.  While we were there someone brought in new born baby squirrels that had been rescued.  The baby squirrels are pictured in the slide show.

There were more activities outside the tents.  There was musical entertainment, dancing and of course tree planting.  Enjoy the slide show and we will see you next year.
